KOA Welcome
I Got Buried On The Oregon Dunes

What Does Kathy Do In Her Spare Time

Oregon's Only Full Service Campground For ATV's, Sandrails, 4 x 4's, and All Off Road Enthusiasts Who Love Sand Between Their Teeth!
In April 2013 I had a left total knee replacement so the summer months were spend recuperating and working in the store. November, 2013 I had the right knee replaced and am ready to tackle the 2014 season with a vengance on two bionic knees.

When we built the campground it was just my Mom and I running the show in the office. Fritz and Daddy ran the outside. Since 2005, my parents were in poor health so I divided my time between the office and their care. Daddy passed away in August 2008 at the age of 96, just a few months shy of my Mom and Dad's 64th wedding anniversary. For the next 3 years, my Mom required constant care. On January 27th, 2011 she finally let us go and joined my Dad. She spent the last 64 years caring for my Dad, me, Fritz and our children. We miss her wisdom and guidance but are grateful she is finally pain free. She was just 3 weeks shy of her 96th birthday.

It has been a couple of years since I have been able to indulge in my favorite past time which is riding my Arab mare Lena. She was quite ill in 2008 and now with her arthritis and my creaky back, I am not sure how many more miles we will have together. She is our petting zoo at the park and enjoys being spoiled by our campers.

Our grandchildren are my other passion. Our busy schedule doesn't give us much chance to see them but as Kayla Grace (our youngest) gets a little older, our son and daughter-in-law have promised she will get to have KOA time here at the park.

2011 was a special bonus because Andrea's daughter Keely permanently moved to the campground. It was the best Christmas present ever!

My new passion is fused glass and kazuri bead necklaces. I have spent most of 2012 focusing on my fused glass art when I am not involved in the campground. For our 2012 National KOA Convention which celebrated the 50th Anniversary of KOA, I donated a commemorative plaque to our Care Camps Auction and was very honored that the high bid was $1050.

You can find examples of my work in our store - Nonny's Glass and Necklaces By Nonny. If I am not in the office I can usually be found in my glass studio.
