Dunes National Recreation Area
Welcome to the dunes. This land of magnificent sand dunes, lakes, forested areas, and ocean beaches is one of nature's outstanding natural phenomena. The National Recreation Area extends 40 miles along the Pacific Ocean from the Siuslaw River on the north to the Coos River on the south. At the widest point, the National Recreation Area extends inland approximately two and one-half miles. There are other coastal sand dunes, but the Oregon Dunes are the most elusive, and present the most spectacular dunal landscape on the Pacific Coast.
